Who: Chris Cooney, COO and Co-owner of EUE/Screen Gems Studios, Wilmington will be in Raleigh on Thursday, August 27 for the signing of the film incentive by Governor Perdue. (Details on time and location will be forthcoming from the Governor’s office.)
What: Film Incentive increase to 25% keeps the North Carolina film industry alive and vital.
• The incentive begins January, 2010.
• EUE/Screen Gems has a $15 million investment in its new Stage 10 (www.stage10nc.com), the third largest sound stage in North America; it also has a special effects water tank.
• Since the incentive passed, EUE/Screen Gems has been on the phone with film studios expressing renewed interest in filming in NC.
• Cooney may consider possible business expansion into Charlotte market.
